career

Currently, Ruth is the Head of Marketing and Visibility and the chairperson of the Resource and Mobilisation Committee at AIFEC Africa (Africa Infrastructure Financing Expo and Conference) pushing discussions that highlight the gaps in investments in Africa.

Formerly she served as the Head of Programs at the Kenya Young Members of County Assemblies (KYMCA), where she oversaw program development and strategic planning, led policy research and design, and facilitated capacity building for young leaders and elected officials. Her leadership at KYMCA was instrumental in crafting county-level gender policies, designing advocacy frameworks, and strengthening civic engagement initiatives among marginalized communities.

In parallel, Ruth works as a Consultant for the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA), where she supports women legislators through training and technical guidance in areas such as legislation, electoral systems, budget cycles, and resource mobilization. She has played a vital role in empowering county assembly caucuses and contributing to inclusive policy development, including working on bills such as the Kenya Sign Language Bill and the Learners with Disability Bill.

Previously, she was a Programs Officer and Youth Coordinator at the KANU Party, where she championed reforms that led to a 50% waiver on nomination fees for youth, women, and persons with disabilities. Ruth led impactful initiatives aimed at increasing youth engagement in political processes and developed programs that advanced inclusive party structures and leadership pipelines.

Ruth’s commitment to feminist organizing and youth empowerment extends beyond formal roles. She is the Board Chair of Young Women Leaders Connect, where she spearheads mentorship programs linking aspiring female leaders to seasoned professionals. As the Sustainable Development Goals Coordinator for the People’s Dialogue Festival, she has curated multi-sectoral programs bringing together thousands of participants to explore youth and women’s role in achieving the SDGs.

She has also worked as a Consultant at the Resource Centre for Women and Girls, delivering trainings on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and implementing gender-based violence advocacy campaigns. This is amongst many other Organisations she consults for.

Her pan-African leadership includes serving as Chairperson of the International Relations Committee for the Young Democrat Union of Africa (YDUA), where she coordinated voter education and civic engagement campaigns and fostered international youth collaboration. In December 2020, she led a Kenyan youth delegation to observe Ghana’s presidential elections, deepening youth involvement in electoral accountability.

Ruth is also a media voice and co-host of the podcast FLATS (Female Lifestyle and Thoughts) on New Day TV, where she engages young women in conversations on governance, mental health, and gender equity. She has moderated high-level forums on political participation, femicide, democracy, and youth accountability—including engagements with leaders such as the Speaker of the Malawian Parliament and electoral commissioners from across Africa.

Her activism is also rooted in community. As Chair of Nyikarachuonyo Queens, Ruth organizes medical camps and scholarships for women and youth in rural Kenya. She is the Founder of Tour De Belle Afrique, a platform that celebrates African culture through fashion and cuisine.

She is an alumni of the LEAP Institute, Akina Mama Wa Afrika (AWLI Leadership), Binti Uongozini, KAS Young Politicians, and Danida Fellowship.
Ruth’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Founder of the Year Award (FOYA) in 2017 and recognition as the Most Promising Female Youth Leader at the Talentpreneur Awards in 2020.

A strategic thinker, passionate public speaker, and accomplished moderator, Ruth brings deep expertise in event coordination, stakeholder engagement, lobbying, and advocacy. Her life’s work continues to be centered on embedding feminist principles in governance and creating platforms that ensure equitable representation and participation in leadership
